“I’VE BOUGHT A WOODLAND, WHAT DO I DO NOW?”
October 28 @ 10:10 am - 4:00 pm£95
I’ve Bought A Woodland, What Do I Do Now? is a one day course tailored for those who have just bought or are thinking of buying a woodland; but is also useful to anyone wanting to understand more about the methods and approaches needed in woodland management. (no previous experience necessary). The course will take place at Prickly Nut Wood where Ben has been managing the woodland for over 25 years.
You will be met at the parking area at 10.10am on the day (full directions upon booking) and be accompanied into Prickly Nut Wood. Ben will meet you at the outdoor kitchen and there will be tea or coffee available. After introductions, Ben will guide you through the woodland, where you will see many different aged coppice cants, some of single species coppice, some mixed and some coppice with standards. You will also see plantation forest which is under conversion to continuous cover forestry. The walk will open up discussion on species diversity, tree diseases, coppice cycles, bio-diversity, marketing and adding value. The afternoon will involve a woodland assessment exercise; and planning law, insurance, felling licences and grants will also be briefly covered.
