Product Description

A set of essential tools to get you started in roundwood timber framing as recommended by Ben Law author of the book Roundwood Timber Framing. Purchasing this recommended set not only gives you the tools for the job that have been tried and tested on dozens of roundwood builds but saves you money as well.

The set includes:

Veritas Transfer Scribe

Aluminium alloy with brass fittings, with a double ended steel guide pin. Use for compass work and transfer scribing. Fully adjustable from 0-300mm. Bi-directional level bubbles ensure accuracy. Comes with an indelible pencil.

Veritas Indelible Pencils

Pack of 10 indelible pencils for use with the Veritas Transfer Scribe and general marking. Work in damp conditions and on sappy wood.

Registered chisel 25mm (1in) and a 50mm (2in) Registered Chisel

Wonderful general application registered chisels. Forged from Sheffield alloy steel, diamond hardness tested and honed to a fine edge. Well balanced tools with double steel hooped ash handles to withstand repeated mallet blows. Made by Robert Sorby.

Straight gouge 6103

Specialist application chisel forged from Sheffield alloy steel. Fitted with rugged, heavy duty ash handles with steel hoops to prevent splitting. Originally intended for wood sculpture but increasingly popular as a roundwood timber framing tool. Made by Robert Sorby.

Timber Framers Slick

In traditional fashion each blade is rounded along its length and is fitted by means of a socket to a slender ash handle. This balance allows the slick to be pushed – not struck – in the time-honoured fashion. The blades are also off-set thereby giving clearance when working less accessible areas like deep mortices. The face is machine ground to produce a slightly hollow surface for ease of honing while the back is rounded off for comfort and safety. Made by Robert Sorby.
